Flawsome is all about being more authentic and bringing some personality into our marketing materials and dare we say… some humour? Flawsome communication means dropping the carefully scripted wording and instead just saying what we mean. Not only is it easier to write this way, it helps to build rapport and connection with our customers. Plus, it’s engaging – it’s content WORTH reading.

I was inspired to write this post when I received this email from Vimeo (the video website which hosts my home page website) encouraging me to upgrade to their paid PRO membership:

Dear friend,

Things have been going pretty swell so far, wouldn’t you agree? It’s like we just get each other.

It may be too soon to adopt a cat together, but we’re ready to take our relationship to the next level and give you 7 days of Vimeo Plus for free, no commitment necessary. Because, hey, let’s keep it casual for a little while longer.

Say hello to incredible HD quality for your videos and a glorious lack of banner ads — not to mention absurdly expansive 5GB/week storage. With that much space, you can finally upload your masterpiece, The Trouble with Pants. Your friends and family will thank you for it!

What do you say? Let’s do this thing!

I’m not sure the response rate they got from this, and I didn’t end up taking up their offer. However, I read it, I had chuckle, and my impression of the company is certainly very positive… but most importantly, I READ it! Who cares how compelling or cleverly written your sales pitch is if no one reads it?
